When it comes to presenting a design solution, students are panic-stricken, deliver a matter of fact discourse, or fail to engage the audience. Often, we see all the excitement that a project began with disappear by the time the creative solution is presented. The situation would improve if instructions on presenting design solutions were expanded early in the student's experience. The heart of this book addresses the delivery strategy of unveiling a design solution and provides analytical and physical techniques whereby the designer can bring the design story to life during the 'crit' while demonstrating how the solution meets the client's objectives and needs. The book's view is that a design presentation is an exchange of ideas and will demonstrate for students how to master delivering design presentations and cultivating powerful interactions with viewers.

Christina Scalise, NCIDQ, is a professional interior designer and principal of her own firm. She is also is a part-time interior design educator and has taught interior design studios, professional practice, architectural communications, and rendering courses at Woodbury University, Seton Hill University, and the Art Institutes beginning in 1982.
