DANIEL BLAND is Professor of Public Policy and Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. His research is in social policy from a comparative and historical perspective. He is author of "Nationalism and Social Policy" (with Andr Lecours) and "States of Global Insecurity: Policy, Politics, and Society."
 
BRIAN GRAN is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Case Western Reserve University, USA. His research focuses on comparative social policy as it is formed in the intersection of the public and private sectors.
