Susan Bulanda's READY! Training the Search and Rescue Dog remains the bible of SAR professionals and volunteers around the world. Since the devastation of the September 11, 2001, attacks and natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, the importance of SAR work has never been greater, and the public's awareness of what these dedicated dogs and handlers do has reached new heights.

Susan Bulanda has been a dog trainer and behavior consultant since 1962. She is a dedicated member of the National Search Dog Alliance, Dog Writers Association of America, and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants as their former Vice President. More recently, Susan Bulanda and her husband Larry formed the Coventry Canine Search and Rescue, which merged with the Phoenixville Fire Department to become the Phoenixville FD K-9 SAR Unit.
