In his four lectures delivered at the Word and Spirit Conference of the Evangelical Theological College of Wales, 2000, Dr. Trueman examines the origins of contemporary Reformed Evangelical Theology in the Reformation World of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. After tracing how this heritage was shaped and transformed in the intervening period, he shows some of the major challenges being faced by the evangelical church at the present time and suggests ways of responding which remain faithful to the theology of the reformers while pointing towards the future. The church is never more than one generation away from extinction or apostasy, and the need to reform our church life, our family life and our individual lives in the light of God#xC2;#x19;s grace is greater now than at any time before. We cannot simply rest on the achievements of the past, but must push forward to be witnesses of God#xC2;#x19;s truth in our day and generation.
