A Research Primer for Technical Communication: Methods, Exemplars, and Analyses

This practical volume provides a thorough introduction to conducting and critically reading research in technical communication, complete with exemplars of research articles for study. Authors Michael A. Hughes and George F. Hayhoe have structured Part 1 of the volume to aid students in identifying a research topic, reviewing the appropriate literature, constructing a test plan, gathering and analyzing data, and writing a research report. The chapters in this section will also help industry practitioners apply the principles discussed in their reading of research articles.
