Beshert is a Yiddish word that means "destiny," "fate," or "meant to be."Danielle Green doesn't know that word, however, because she only believes in the tangible. To her, destiny, fate, religion-even love-are right up there with Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. So Danielle does not understand the cultural significance when her sister sets her dream wedding in Israel. But from the moment she arrives in the Jewish homeland, she finds herself fighting against fate as she explores a world that she has spent a lifetime trying to separate herself from. While love is the last thing on her mind, Danielle can't seem to avoid Eyal, a former Israeli soldier with whom she immediately clashes. Despite their constant battle over contradicting beliefs, they begin to realize that their relationship may not be what they want, but it might be what they both need. As Danielle questions the difference between faith and coincidence, she must decide whether she can believe that some things in life are, in fact, just meant to be.
