1917. This work was first written, as alleged, in Latin, by Fabricius Albinus, a playmate of Pilate, translated into Arabic by Jerasimus Jared, late Bishop of Zahleh, in Lebanon, and here rendered from the Arabic into English. Pilate was the 5th governor over Judea after its subjugation by the Romans, having been appointed in the 26th year, AD, ruling for a period of ten years. He was cruel and oppressive, hating both the Jews and the Samaritans, which, with other reasons, caused the people to make many complaints against him, until at last, through the efforts of Vitellius, Governor of Syria, he was deposed and sent to Rome to be tried before Tiberius, the Emperor.
