The Archaeology and Early History of Angus

This accessible and well-illustrated overview of the archaeology of Angus concentrates on the period from the late Bronze Age to the rise of the Scots, broadly 1000 BC-AD 1000. The earlier prehistory of the area - from hunter-gatherer times onward, is also introduced. Most archaeology books on Scotland focus on the stone monuments of the north and west of the country. This is the first account of an important part of eastern Scotland's archaeology that considers the results of newer approaches - from the investigation of cropmark sites in the lowlands to discoveries made in applied archaeology on new road-lines.
