Critical Perspectives on Private Authority in Global Politics

Distinctions between the public and private have fashioned modern political life, as well as social theory. Globalization challenges these distinctions and sets the stage for new research questions about the dynamics of politics. Based on a constructivist framework, and drawing on original empirical research conducted in local, national and transnational settings, this volume explores the transformation of political practices across the public and private, as well as the domestic and foreign, and examines the role of a mediated global environment in shaping contemporary politics.
