Selling Sex in the Reich Prostitutes in German Society, 1914-1945

Examines the German sex trade in the first half of the twentieth century by seeking to understand the prostitutes who worked within it, focusing on their voices and experiences. The book also discusses the wide variety of public responses to the issue of prostitution, highlighting the surprising continuities across the different political regimes in power from 1914 to 1945, from the Wilhelmine government, through the Weimar Republic, to the Third Reich.
