For insecure junior high students in the process of discovering who they are and where they fit in the world, the thought of sharing their faith or stepping out in service may be downright terrifying. KARA POWELL Ph.D., is the executive director of the Center for Youth and Family Ministry and an assistant professor of youth, family and culture at Fuller Theological Seminary. She has been in youth ministry for 20 years and is the author of many articles and books, including Deep Justice in a Broken World and Deep Ministry in a Shallow World (co-authored with Chap Clark), Help! I'm a Woman in Youth Ministry, Mirror! Mirror! and the Good Sex curriculum guide (co-authored with Jim Hancock). Kara lives in Pasadena with her husband and three children.
