Shifting Views Selected Essays on the Architectural History of Australia and New Zealand

Since 1984, the Society of Architectural Historians, Australia & New Zealand (SAHANZ) has held an annual conference on the history and historiography of architecture in Australia and New Zealand. This collection draws together writings from the 25 years of forums to provide a fascinating insight into the region's architectural history discipline. The essays collected herefrom such diverse thinkers as Judith Brine, Joan Kerr, Miles Lewis, Sarah Treadwell, Philip Goad, Julie Willis, and Mike Austinreflect some of the most illuminating debates from these conferences, capturing a tone of critical inquiry and examining the ways in which architecture has been studied and taught in Australia and New Zealand in the 20th and early 21st century.

Andrew Leach is the coeditor of the Society of Architectural Historians, Australia & New Zealand journal, Fabrications, and the author of Campus Confessions: Architecture and the Central Institute of Technology, Frederick H. Newman: Lectures on Architecture, and Manfredo Tafuri: Choosing History. Antony Moulis is head of the architecture department at the University of Queensland. Nicole Sully is a lecturer in architecture at the University of Queensland.
