He spent countless hours out in the countryside, sketchbook in hand, recording the small nuances of light and shadow, rough bark and weathered wood, the reflection of water and the density of stone. He filled hundreds of sketchbooks with drawings that could capture a landscape in just a few quick, bold strokes. This collection of sketches is intended to inspire and encourage the artist in all of us, to show the value of constant study and practice as well as the satisfaction in a creation well wrought.
