Drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1953, Bob St. Clair was the tallest player in the National Football League.

At 6'9", 265 pounds St. Clair's violence, strength and power left a trail of broken bones throughout the NFL. He wasn't just good, he was mean - a quality that led players to salute him in a less than flattering manner. But it would be his 'flamboyant' lifestyle and love of raw meat that made many stand and take notice.

Written in quarters, the book begins with A Hooligan From the City - Bob's early days as a tough kid, gang violence and run-ins with the law. Luckily football captured him before the cops did.

The Second Quarter is an account of Bob's college days, which include the famous undefeated and untied season at the University of San Francisco and his senior year at Tulsa University. It was at Tulsa that Bob used his street fighting skills and became the first, original 'Rocky'.

The Third Quarter recalls his 49ers years which includes, but is not limited to, team brawls and road trips, involvement with the Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit Mafia, an NFL gambling scandal, a hooked testicle, a foot in the mouth, a head slap, a leg whip and informing Coach Lombardi (at the Pro bowl) that he was leaving the chalk talk because it was Happy Hour at the bar across the street.

The Fourth Quarter describes Bob's life after football - including a field of dreams. As a mayor, councilman and lobbyist he dined with JFK and with President and Barbara Bush - not to mention becoming the key negotiator in calming down the nudists at a local nudist beach. His golden years bestowed on him a field to call his own and a retirement jersey that was long overdue.

ST. CLAIR: I'LL TAKE IT RAW! San Francisco 49er Great and Pro Football Hall of Fame Member Bob St. Clair is an exclusive, authorized biography written by Kristine Setting Clark (author of Undefeated, Untied and Uninvited).

With the Foreword written by Baltimore Colts' defensive tackle, Pro Football Hall of Fame member and long time nemesis, Gino Marchetti, the book is lavishly illustrated with photographs from his life - many never before made public.

ST. CLAIR: I'LL TAKE IT RAW! is told from the 'inside by the people who knew him best. It is a funny, entertaining and at times, hilarious story of one of pro football's most colorful players.
