This work applies the concept of equilibrium to the dynamics of personality. It asserts that every person strives to achieve a state of emotional and mental equilibrium, a state of inner calm. Unresolved internal conflicts often create chaotic internal states instead. States of Equilibrium provides a unique theory of personality, involving the strictly internal relationship between states of mind and emotion within the individual. The reader will learn that their personality exists as a variable collection of states, and beliefs about these states, rather than as one inflexible solid state. This volume transports the reader through a variety of human development theories as well as NLP concepts that explain how people achieve internal states of equilibrium. It gives counsellors and NLP practitioners the tools to enable their clients to gain increased emotional independence.
