*The large-print version contains extras*Have you noticed how terribly the real estate market in Northern California is and has been advancing for profit-seeking Realtors these past seven or eight years? This novel has the perfect pitch. As we all know, the turbulence that rears its ugly head in poor economic times can, and frequently does, get inconceivably ugly. Capitalism can breed pure spite out of greedy individuals who praise the almighty dollar as a sanctified power. But how far can this craving for wealth push a person? And where does the true distinction rest between greed and need? Between plush cravings and dire necessities for survival? Moreover, at what point in that line of distinction do friends and other figures of security sabotage and disregard each others need for survival? In fact, how far can an entire Real Estate firm--with the bulk of the staff upholding complete reverence and devotion toward financial gain--be pushed? And what ultimately drives such obsessive, narrow-minded malice? Sure, we've all seen news reports or otherwise heard of "those people," so a great curiosity exists in readers to dig into the elaborate yet dismal psychology of an array of these salespeople once pushed just past the brink - and what a push this book displays! In Synthetic Savior, I have contrasted the irrational motivations and desperate yearnings of a few pioneers with those of a few followers in the real estate profession, combined with one slick pacesetter, Jesop E. Carlton, along with an exemplar, Sean, to establish contrast. The off-beat humor and satire also add much emphasis without seeming at all silly or overly sardonic; irony drives the most esteemed thematic throughout. But getting to the "meat and potatoes" of this work, readers understand and retain more in-depth patterns and customs of this angst and spite through the protagonist and antagonist, Beth and Jaime, and in an even larger context by the unexpected turn-around of the growing or developing character, Crystal. Surely the literary dynamics are exaggerated, but they are completely within the ball-park of corporate angst. Other fictionalized Realtors also serve either as complements or dynamic symbols to illustrate alternate depictions of greed. As we all know, the turbulence that rears its ugly head in poor economic times can get ugly. Capitalism can breed pure spite out of greedy individuals who praise the almighty dollar as a sanctified power. But how far can this craving, confused for a need, push a person? How far can it push an entire Real Estate firm with the bulk of the staff upholding reverence and devotion toward financial gain alone? Sure, we've all seen news reports or otherwise heard of "those people," but who has ever thought to dig into the elaborate yet dismal psychology of an array of these salespeople, once pushed just past the brink, with this malicious capacity? In Synthetic Savior, I have combined the irrational motivations and desperate yearnings of a few pioneers as well as followers in the real estate profession, a fictitious real estate firm, along with one slick pacesetter alongside an exemplar to establish contrast. The off-beat humor and satire also add much emphasis without being silly or overly sardonic; humor is esteemed throughout the first half. But getting to the "meat and potatoes" of this work, readers understand and retain more in-depth patterns and customs of this angst and spite through the protagonist and antagonist, and in an even larger context by the unexpected turn-around of the growing or developing character. Surely the literary dynamics are exaggerated, but they are completely within the ball-park of corporate angst. Prominent themes include capitalist greed, religion / idolatry, masculinity / femininity, humor (the overriding factor of the subplot), and many procedures directly in fraudulent real estate deals (deception, fraud, spite, and one realtor's suicide).
