It's fiction only on the surface.A viral video on YouTube reveals that archaeologists in Jerusalem have made a major discovery but are keeping it from the public, and people naturally think they've found the Ark of the Covenant or the Holy Grail. What the archaeologists have found, however, are clay tablets that represent a very early version of one of the books of the Torah, but with some significant differences from the current version. The archaeological dig site is located in the Talpiot district of Jerusalem. Marc is a grad student from Los Angeles doing his fieldwork at the Talpiot site when he uncovers the tablets while excavating a 12th-century well. When one of the archaeologists directing the dig begins translating the tablets, which were composed in ancient Paleo-Hebrew, he realizes that this document may have been part of a deception coordinated by Temple priests and scribes in the 7th century BCE. If it had been any other work of literature from that era that was discovered, it would have been an interesting find but not especially noteworthy except to historians. But because the document forms part of the foundation on which Judaism, Christianity, Islam and other religions were established, the implications of its probable fabrication by the priests and scribes, and not authored by Moses six centuries earlier, are profound. The archaeologists decide it would be wise to keep quiet about the tablets for the time being. But when an obnoxious grad student on the dig team becomes the target of an offensive prank, he retaliates by posting a video online suggesting that a major discovery is being kept from the public. Not long after the video is posted, a crowd of people swarm over the dig site wanting to see a holy relic. After informing the public of the tablets at a press conference, Marc and the archaeologists learn that anonymous groups want to discredit the tablets and to keep any further information about them from reaching the public.More information is available at carpecranium.com/thetalpiotfind
