A memoir by Patricia Gates Lynch. As Pat Lawrence, she married West Point graduate "Ink" Gates not long after America entered World War II. He was assigned to the China-India Burma theater, then worked on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where the couple resided. The book chronicles her experiences in wartime U.S. and postwar Europe, and her career in radio and rise to prominence as a host on the Voice of America "Breakfast Show." She recounts her years at the White House as radio coach to First Lady Patricia Nixon, and finally, her term as Ambassador to Madagascar and the Comoros Islands, where she and her second husband, Bill Lynch experienced many adventures.
