Theology and Eschatology at the Turn of the Millennium

Re-readings of medieval millenarian movements, competing modern and post-modern utopias and futurologies as well as ideologies of despair and violence - all of these have a claim on modern theology's eschatology, but in different and competing ways. The goal of this volume is to bring together students of Scripture, the history of Christianity, and various contemporary theologies so that readers can consider and debate the ways diverse and often conflicting eschatological narratives, images and beliefs might bear on the new millennium. It is also intended to inspire debate amongst readers about how these diverse uses of eschatology can make the millennium a parable of more significant, and holy, endings.
