Tudor and Early Stuart Parks of Hertfordshire

This book forms a continuation of the research published in Medieval Parks, Anne Rowe’s highly regarded volume of 2009. Now she turns her attention to the deer parks that existed in Hertfordshire during the 16th and early 17th centuries. Drawing on the earliest county maps, and both State papers and estate records, the author builds a detailed picture of Hertfordshire’s Tudor and Early Stuart parks. This meticulously researched book illuminates a significant aspect of the county’s history.

Anne Rowe is a freelance landscape historian. She co-ordinates the research work of the Hertfordshire Gardens Trust and is president of the East Herts Archaeological Society.
