A father's Bipolar illness, as seen through the eyes of a young girl who is determined to bring back her regular Daddy, will fascinate anyone who who has loved a mentally ill family member. Parallel to the narrator's story is that of the Boston Red Sox and their own manic-depressive history. Famed center fielder, Jimmy Piersall, also takes center stage as the next door neighbor of the narrator. This is the story of redemption: narrator Marlene becomes a writer "because it is the only way I know to keep a voice alive."

Marlene Rosenfield is now writing THIS IS THE TRUTH, a collection of Yiddish memoirs. Author of UP Daddy Down Daddy, she has published a collection of short stories (Yiddish Lessons) which won first-place in Women's Fiction Writers. Marlene holds an M.A. in English and has studied with Jay McInerney, Lydia Davis, the late Bernard Malamud, Hilma Wolitzer, Douglas Glover and Nick Delbanco. UP DADDY DOWN DADDY won the People of the Book award.
