Adrian Hastings was, until his recent retirement, professor of theology at the University of Leeds, England. He also served as professor of religious studies at the University of Zimbabwe. He is the author of numerous books, including The Construction of Nationhood, The Church in Africa 1450-1950, A History of African Christianity 1950-1975, and A History of English Christianity 1920-1990. He is also general editor of the forthcoming Oxford Companion to Christian Thought.
