The title of this thriller refers to Anwen she was the adulterous wife of a colliery Overman, a senior official of Cwm Derw Colliery.Anwen was in a loveless childless marriage, loneliness had become insufferable. She craved attention, the love that her husband had denied her. Iolo Pritchard was married to his work, but he too began to suffer as the villagers and miners of Cwm Derw knew only too well that Anwen Pritchard and the charismatic Maldwyn Evans were lovers. Miners scoffed and winked knowingly behind Iolo's back. He had become the butt of all jokes. After months of torment he had started to plan the demise of Anwen and her lover. How did he carry out this dastardly plan? Where did he dispose of the remains? He had intimate knowledge of the colliery and its workings, but did he have the nerve? As things transpired the spirit of Anwen would not surrender and accidents at the mine began to take hold, the miners blamed a jinx. Iolo was overwhelmed by unfortunate events as the ghoulish Anwen seemed to be the cause of everything that went wrong. The jinx was at work everywhere. Iolo had a harrowing experience, trapped below ground following a horriffic explosion. But Anwen was not finished with him yet. Once more the forces of nature, or maybe Anwen, caused the mine to experience a massive inrush of water.A deluge that had lingered for years waiting for man to unleash its terrible torrent.Others in the story are the amiable Caradog Pritchard and his companion Fred who spend their retirement at the allotments drinking copious amounts of potent homebrew.Read the harrowing accounts of Iolo Pritchard and Bernard Thomas a Deputy as they are cross examined by the coroner. Read of the confusion that ensued as the miners panicked thinking that their pit was about to explode. There are more tales to tell but that would be spoiling things for the inquisitive reader.THIS BOOK IS A SECOND EDITIONWelsh words are kept to the minimum for a better reading experience.
