Susan Devoy loved squash from an early age - but she loved winning more. This fiercely competitive spirit helped make her a four-time squash world champion and has been the driving force throughout her remarkable life.

Dame Susan has been many things: sporting champ and chief executive, Race Relations Commissioner, television star, kiwifruit picker and mother to four boys. Through it all, she has remained resolutely and distinctly herself.

Susan Devoy was born in 1964, the only girl in a family of seven children. Growing up in Rotorua, Susan was a talented sportswoman, becoming a four-time world squash champion and New Zealand's greatest squash player. Her fierce drive means her life has seen hardly a dull moment.


She lives in the Bay of Plenty with her husband, John. They have four boys.
