Taking place between 1961-65, Divine Intimacy follows Father Timothy Latham as he ministers to the poorest community of New York City while targeting and grooming the South Bronx altar boys and their parents. They don’t realize what he is doing until it is too late. There is only one woman who listens, believes and tries to save the innocent boys. Father Latham’s care for the marginalized boys seems authentic, as does his social activism on behalf of the poor. His crusades lead to a popular radio show, Monday Morning Catholic, which gives him a platform for interviews with sports and entertainment celebrities. His work comes to the attention of the Archbishop of New York who appoints him Ad Hoc Director of Communications for the Pope’s historic visit to NYC in 1965. The priest’s actions at the prayer service in St. Patrick’s Cathedral bring his reign of terror to an end. The story is written in the first person narrative language of the streets, woven together by twelve boys/men and the woman who becomes their staunch advocate.
