A little girl auburn-haired girl named Sparrow hides some very big secrets. Taught to keep quiet about the abuse she is experiencing, she carries the weight of the trauma - something no little girl should have to do.
Sparrow still keeps her secrets as she grows up, becoming convinced that this is what her life is going to look like. A life with violence and mistreatment becomes her accepted norm. She chooses to stay with her abuser versus leave and have a life without the beatings and abuse...because abuse is, sadly, what she knows.
One day, however, a friend plants in Sparrow's heart a seed of hope for a better life, and Sparrow learns to fly toward it with open wings!

Meghan Carlisle is an artist, teacher, speaker, and author who writes to women on overcoming abuse and trauma. "I am Sparrow" is the first in a three-book series which addresses various types of abuse.
