The Leaner

The Leaner tells the true tale of an unusual tree that, despite being unwanted for years, ultimately fulfills a special purpose. Its survival and eventual acceptance suggest that what may seem imperfect to the world is valued and cherished by God.

Duane Patrick grew up in Barnesville, Texas, a city that no longer exists. He has farmed the same land he grew up on since 1997, raising four children who helped in what is now the town of Alvarado.

Duane and his wife Donna run Sunset Hill Tree Farm in Alvarado, Texas, as well as the Pollo Rosa Vineyard and Winery in Cleburne, Texas. Guided by their faith, their businesses serve as a means of outreach and encouragement for these communities.

Duane is an educator at heart, always eager to share stories and knowledge with friends and acquaintances alike. He is a father, a grandfather, a musician, an artist and one heck of a raconteur.
