When a storm launches Mona the Mermaid out of the depths of Lake Erie and on to Crescent Beach, the young mermaid makes the beautiful bay her new home. But while the creatures of Crescent are nice, they aren't happy.
A jackal terrorizes them by day and haunts them by night!
Mona wants to help her friends. But the first time Mona meets up with the jackal, her beautiful tail is punctured!
And it hurts!
Mona knows she shouldn't meet with Jay-deen again, yet she needs to learn more about this wily creature.
One stormy night, while the winds howl and waves batter the beach, Mona accepts the jackal's invitation to talk.

Carol Stevens has worked as a journalist, communications professional, and creative writing instructor. She lives in Arlington, Va., with her husband, but they spend several weeks each summer in Crescent Beach, Ontario.
