Nicole Ahland Widerschein

Nicole Ahland (b. 1970) is not interested in the pure representation of architectonic space but rather in the interaction of light, space, and time. Her photography always demonstrates rooms devoid of people, rooms that are shifted into darkness or overexposed from the light. Nicole Ahland works in analogue form and creates the effects of transparency, overlay, and soft focus by means of traditional photography only. The result is images full of sensuous energy and meditative tranquillity.

Barbara Auer is the director of the Kunstverein Ludwigshafen. Peter Forster is custos of the collection 14th to 19th century of the Kunstverein Wiesbaden. There he also manages the provenance research.
