John Thelin is Professor of Higher Education and Public Policy at the University of Kentucky, USA. He is former president of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) and received the ASHE Award for Outstanding Research.

Richard W. Trollinger is Vice President for College Relations at Centre College, USA. He received the 2009 CASE Grenzebach Award for outstanding Ph.D. dissertation on philanthropy and education, and the CASE Grenzebach Award for outstanding published research in 2013 with co-author John Thelin.
