Poonam Bala is currently visiting scholor in the Department of Sociology at Cleveland State University, Ohio. She held a university international fellowship as a visiting professor and has recently been appointed as a fellow in the Department of History at the University of South Africa. She is the author of Imperialism and Medicine in Bengal: A Socio-Historical Perspective and Medicine and Medical Policies in India: Social and Historical Perspectives, and Medicine and editor of Biomedicine as a Contested Site: Some Revelations in Imperial Contexts.
