Nutrition in Epigenetics

Recent research that explores the role that nutrition plays in the regulation of epigenetic processes and their inheritance has revealed the need for a book that presents key representative advances in understanding these mechanisms, their importance in the human population, and trans-generational inheritance. Nutrition in Epigenetics presents recent progress in this research and is organized into three sections. The first section covers the fundamental principles of epigenetics, the second section covers the role of nutrition in epigenetics, including maternal-child nutrition, role of specific nutrients, and nutritional epigenetics and disease. The third sections presents current models being used to research the interactions between nutrition and epigenetics and the methods that are available to ascertain epigenetic changes. This edited volume contains contributions from an international panel of experts on their chapter topics.

Mihai D. Niculescu is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition at the University of North Carolina's Gillings School of Global Public Health in Chapel Hill and at the UNC Nutrition Research Institute in Kannapolis, North Carolina, USA. Paul Haggarty is Head of the Lifelong Health Programme and the Nutrition and Epigenetics Group at the Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health in the University of Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland.
