De niña, Mariona Losada tenía dos sueños: convertirse en médica y que Bernat Ferrer la besara. Ambos se cumplieron, aunque no de la forma que esperaba. Desencantada, se instala en Londres para trabajar en el New Hospital for Women, donde al fin encuentra su camino y un modo de desterrar de su corazón al que fuera su primer amor.
Por su parte, Bernat Ferrer es en la actualidad un entregado periodista, centrado en un político corrupto que, molesto con sus artículos, consigue expulsarlo del periódico donde colabora. Bernat decide entonces viajar a Londres con la esperanza de reconquistar a Mariona, a quien nunca dejó de amar. Pero en la vida de la joven no parece haber ahora lugar para él.
Cuando la violencia se desata en Barcelona, los dos regresan a su ciudad natal e, involuntariamente, se convierten en colaboradores de un caso de desaparición y de agresión a varias mujeres sin ser conscientes del peligro que corren sus propias vidas.

In the turbulent Barcelona at the turn of the nineteenth century, there is no easy path for a woman willing to do anything to chase her dream.
As a child, Mariona Losada had two dreams, to become a doctor and being kissed by Bernat Ferrer. Both came true, though not as she had expected. Disenchanted, she moves to London to work at the New Hospital for Women, where she finally finds her path and a way to vanish her first love from her heart.
Bernat Ferrer, on the other hand, is a devoted journalist, focused on a corrupted politician that, angered by Bernat’s articles, gets him fired from the newspaper he works for. Bernat decides to travel to London, hoping to win Mariona back, whom he never stopped loving. But there seems to be no place for him in the young girl’s life.
When violence brakes out in Barcelona, they broth go back to their homeland and, involuntarily, become collaborators in the case of a missing person and of assaults against women, unaware that their own lives might be in danger.
