Elusive Faith

Everyone Has It Faith is a supernatural seed planted in a natural man by the creative hand of God. Rom 12:3 says, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." The "Last Days" battle for the believer will be one of "where and in whom" you place your faith, trust, confidence. There are thousands of offers being made right now to steal your faith from you and place it in the arm of flesh – all the way from who is going to pay your mortgage to who’s going to heal your body. It’s all about faith – and nothing else. The title of this book, "Elusive Faith," describes the "hard to capture" nuances of something no one can fully understand in concrete form or come completely to terms with. Yet without faith there would be no victory or defeat. There would be no hopes or dreams and aspirations. We would all stand as impotent beings that would not move out of the spot we were born in. We would be frozen in place. Our world would look different than we can imagine – for faith is the core operating system of everything we are and do. It’s the key to a baby learning to walk for that child must trust in the outstretched hands of his parent urging him on – and the key to the parent stretching out his arms and saying, "Come on baby, you can do this, walk to daddy!" If you follow this train of thought, it will take you into every part of your life, from birth to this moment of reading this book. Haven’t you ever wanted to know what makes you tick, dream the dreams you do, believe the way you do, and stretch towards the outstretched hands of God the way you do? It’s faith! Try and find one part of who you are or what you do that is not driven by faith, confidence, trust. Your talents would be idle. Your dream would be unfulfilled and in fact, you wouldn’t even dream. The call to "go" would be met with lack-luster eyes of nothingness – because not even the arm of flesh can work without faith. You would totally lack confidence in anything of substance because faith is the key to reaching out and taking hold of things that create a purpose in life. The Bible would be a flat line book of lifeless people with no story to tell. If you took out faith, you would remove the people of the Word. Hebrews 11 would not exist. Acts 2:4 would have never happened. Israel would have never left Egypt. Gideon would have never gathered an army…every story of faith in a common person working to the Glory of God would disappear off the pages of the Bible. Even the bad people of the Bible whose deeds are recorded for our understanding could speak nothing to us for they too would have done nothing. The Bible is filled with stories of people who lived in the real time of their generation, who chose their path depending on what they believed and whether they put their confidence in their own arm or in God’s. Faith is woven into the fabric of our lives, like the gears of a clock, and moves the hands of time in our lives, every day we live. Your day is faith-filled – settled on something you are going to put your confidence in. Faith is in my spirit, my heart, my mind, my body. Faith is in me! Faith is in you! I am created with faith as surely as God created me with eyes, ears, a mouth and nose, hands and feet – all that I am externally – and as surely as my heart beats inside of me – faith works.
