Tommy's Race

Tommy is your everyday little boy — he loves to run and jump, chase his friends and his dog, Nugget, and compete in track and field with his classmates. But Tommy is different from many of his friends: he was born with dwarfism. Tommy is looking forward to competing at the elementary school sports day. He dreams of winning first place, but in spite of his hard work, he comes in dead last. That is when he meets his best friend, Willow. She is a little person too. Tommy and Willow join the track and field team and begin to train for the Dwarf Athletics World Games in Germany. The day comes when Tommy and Willow travel to the games, where they meet other little people from many countries. As the events of the World Games lead up to the big race, Tommy and Willow, surrounded by their families and new friends, enjoy the excitement of the event. On the adventure of a lifetime, Tommy’ s dreams and hard work are met with success.

Riley Windeler was born and raised in the small Cariboo community of Horsefly. When Riley was close to a year old, he was diagnosed with Dwarfism. He played minor hockey and baseball, and in 2001, Riley took part in his first World Dwarf Games in Toronto. Riley studied at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops BC and was awarded a Human Service Worker Diploma. Riley was a board director for both the Little People of British Columbia and the Dwarf Athletic Association of Canada, and was one of the founding board members for the Dwarf Athletic Association of Canada. Nora Kelly is an illustrator, oil painter and muralist based in Montreal, Quebec. Her professional art career started in 2017 in Mexico City, when she apprenticed with Street Art Chilango. From there, she travelled across North America painting murals; when the pandemic struck, Nora transferred her passion of painting to oil on canvas and illustration. Her paintings have been jury-selected contributions of the Art Volt Collective. She lives with her partner and dog named Squid. On the weekends, she sings and plays guitar in her alt-rock band called the Nora Kelly Band.
