This is a story of love, luck, misfortune, fortune, relationships, relatives, friends and enemies. In other words it is a story about life and the living of it. A 35 year old man inherits a ranch from his grandfather in a small town that he had spent the summer at when he was 17 and hasn't been back there since then and hasn't seen his grandfather for the 18 years since right after that summer at the funeral for his mother who died of cancer. When he goes to visit the ranch he has inherited he finds out that one of the conditions of the will is that he has to care for an 18 year old boy with Down syndrome that has been living with his grandfather for the boy's whole life and he didn't know the boy even existed. This is the story of the relationship they develop and the people they come in contact with in the small town the ranch is in. There are a few twists in the plot as the two main characters get to know each other and the townspeople, who he comes to find out have a vested interest in the outcome of the relationship between the young man living at the ranch and the young man who comes to care for him, literally and figuratively.
