Practice-as-Research: In Performance and Screenpresents a thoroughgoing exploration of the major fissures of established knowledge created by a new trans-disciplinary, worldwide project for the twenty-first century. Focussing on the most fleeting and yet pervasive practices of the performance and screen arts, it both documents and analyses the practical-theoretical integration of hands-on creative and scholarly methods of research. Through an innovative combination of manuscript, catalogue and digital multi-media formats, it aims to embody the principles of performance and screen practice-as-research in its structure and design making book pages and DVD images mutually illuminating. With over fifty practitioner-researcher contributors, Practice-as-Researchconstitutes the most comprehensive presentation of this sometimes controversial and frequently fresh way of doing things with an imaginative convergence of artistic and scholarly processes.

BAZ KERSHAW is currently Professor of Performance in the University of Warwicks Department of Theatre, Performance and Cultural Policy Studies, having previously been Chair of Drama at the University of Bristol for 8 years. He is the Director of the major research project PARIP (Practice as Research in Performance) since it began in 2000, and has been on the editorial boards for many key journals in theatre/performance studies (including Research in Drama Education, Cambridge History of British Theatre, Contemporary Theatre Review). His own publications include Engineers of the Imagination (Methuen, 1998), The Politics of Performance (Routledge, 1992), The Radical in Performance (Routledge, 1999) and The Cambridge History of British Theatre Since 1895 (2004).

SIMON JONES is Reader in Performance in the Drama Department at the University of Bristol, UK, and is a practitioner and scholar, having written plays and texts for a number of companies since the 1980s and founded the performance company Bodies in Flight in 1990. He has published in Contemporary Theatre Review, Entropy Magazine, Liveartmagazine, Performance Research, Shattered Anatomies (ed. Heathfield & Quick), and most recently in The Cambridge History of British Theatre.

ANGELA PICCINI is an Academic Fellow in the Drama Department at the University of Bristol, UK, and has been working with Baz Kershaw on the PARIP project since 2001. Her publications include articles in journals such as Journal of Media Practice and Studies in Theatre and Performance.

LUDIVINE ALLEGUE FUSCHINI is currently a Research Assistant at the University of Bristol, and has mainly published in related French journals.
