Approximately 1million new teachers will be required to take the Praxis I in the next 8 years! A 12% increase in the number of teachers is expected through 2016! Currently, 80% of US states require teacher candidates to take the Praxis I exam prior to applying for a teacher training program. The Praxis II specialty exams are required before applying for a state license in most states. ThePraxis I Exam Cram, Second Edition provides a concise guide for studying and passing the teacher licensing exams known as Praxis I. Praxis I, the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST), tests teacher candidates for mathematics, reading, and writing skills. This exam is required by most states when applying for entrance into a state approved teaching program. The exam is developed by ETS, Educational Testing Services, for the purpose of providing assessment tools and information (including test scores and interpretative tools) to test takers, educational institutions, and others who require this information (such as state licensing boards). Approximately 80% of US states require one or both exams. The test is now offered as a CBT by Prometric through Sylvan Learning Centers. The exams range in price from $55 to $175. Candidates register through ETS, their school, or Prometric.
