Elements Of Critical Thinking And Writing

This text is field-tested and designed to help undergraduate students develop competence in reasoning and critical writing. For the first objective, the text focuses how to: identify, and avoid, vagueness and ambiguity; and spot common errors in reasoning. This section also helps students identify, develop, and ascertain the strength of different types of argument: inductive, deductive, analogical, truth-functional, quantificational, causal, etc. For the second objective, the author shows each student step-by-step how to write clearly and accurately, starting with the sentence through the paragraph, to the whole essay.
