"Conversing with Cardinals" is a story of a woman's journey to family and romance within a small-town setting.

Camella is engulfed by change as she reconnects with her estranged grandfather, Irving. His charisma helps Camella navigate the loss within her past, as well as within the disorienting visions of the young boy Sonny, whose story is set in the 1930s. Meanwhile, the town's colorful array of elderly residents rally against corporate takeover as the town builds its first light rail station. A midnight musician with dark eyes fills Camella's life with art, passion, and the potential to find beauty in loss.

Katherine McCarty received her Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Miami University of Ohio and her Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University in Georgia. Based in San Francisco, she owns a small business and non-profit outreach, and writes fiction for local newsletters. Katherine's greatest passions are traveling with her wife, studying herbalism, and surfing along the California coastline.
