Stop Him from Killing Them is a powerful true crime story of how a police commander stopped more than 1850 violent men from killing the women they were stalking. Time is the one thing that you do not have during an active shooter incident – if the goal is to have zero victim fatalities. The reality is that most active shooter incidents start and conclude prior to law enforcement making contact with the shooter, thus active shooter training is a "Stop-Gap" measure that seeks to only limit the loss of life, while doing nothing to proactively prevent the first shot from being fired. Police Commander Paul Szych (Ret.) started his 30-year law enforcement career in the Metro Detroit Area prior to joining the Albuquerque Police Department. Upon being promoted to Sergeant, he assumed command of APD's Domestic Violence and Stalking Unit. Over the following eight years, he supervised more than 1,850 high-lethality domestic violence, stalking and workplace violence-related threat mitigation cases, focusing on innovative "predict and prevent" ideology. During those eight years Commander Szych's Unit experienced zero victim fatalities, through the full implementation of the proactive Dynamic Stalking Intervention Model®, which Commander Szych developed and patented. He has also supervised detectives during homicide, robbery, burglary, auto theft, bait car operations, internal affairs, and Title III wiretap multi-jurisdictional major case investigations.

Commander Szych is a nationally recognized stalking, domestic violence, workplace violence avoidance and threat mitigation consultant, as well as a published author and college faculty ethics & leadership instructor. Commander Szych's books, "Dynamic Stalking Intervention®" and "Stop Him From Killing Them®," have received praise from both private & public sector safety professionals and judicial experts. Commander Szych has been a keynote speaker and instructor at more than 100 engagements addressing topics such as workplace violence avoidance, domestic violence, advanced stalking investigation and dozens of safety related topics.

On March 15, 2009, he provided expert testimony to the New Mexico House of Representatives assisting in the passing of New Mexico's current stalking law. In 2006, Governor Bill Richardson appointed Commander Szych to the New Mexico Victim's Rights™ Alliance. Commander Szych provides expert public safety commentary for both local and national media outlets. He is a regular guest on the Fox Network show "Crime Stories with Nancy Grace," including countless appearances on the Discovery ID Channel, as well as radio and TV appearances spanning the globe from Australia to Canada. Commander Szych is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command and the prestigious Gavin de Becker's Advanced Threat Assessment and Management Academy. He holds a master's degree in the administration of justice – leadership & administration, a bachelor's in business administration and has a national security clearance. He is a federally certified use of force instructor, a graduate of the FBI's crisis negotiation school and a Criminal Justice Honor Society Alpha Phi Sigma Inductee.
