MADELON SPRENGNETHER is Professor of English at the University of Minnesota. She is the author of The Spectral Mother: Freud, Feminism, and Psychoanalysis and co-editor of Revising the Word and the World: Essays in Feminist Literary Criticism and The (M)other Tongue.
