The Sterling Quality: British and Canadian Silver 18th-20th Century

The Winnipeg Art Gallery has one of the finest holdings of silver in Canada, primarily of British and Canadian production. This beautifully illustrated publication documents pieces of immense importance produced over some three hundred years. Since the church was an early patron of local silversmiths, ecclesiastic plate is a prominent element - although domestic silver is also well represented in the collection. Essays by experts in the field are accompanied by dizens of colour plates. This is the fifth in a series of publications celebrating the Gallery's decorative arts collection.
