And for his early years out of college and into his 20s, Joe coached high school and college football with a real passion. But as he got into his 30's, when faced with the hard choice between his lifelong dream and supporting his wife and four young kids, Joe did the honorable thing. He quit coaching and went to Wall Street to try and find a decent paying job in finance so he could help pay the bills at home. Turns out Joe was good with numbers, and even though he had no MBA or any real formal training in business, Joe eventually rose to become the CEO of TD Ameritrade. But over the years, his inner love for football never left. And in 2008, Joe made a fateful and stunning decision: he announced that he was leaving his high-paying corporate position to pursue his original passion in life. Yet getting hired as a college coach wasn't so easy. As Joe discovered, college athletic directors pointed out that he hadn't been involved in coaching for more than 25 years. Undaunted, Joe started his second career in football as an unpaid, voluntary coach to the University of Nebraska football team in 2008 and 2009. In 2010, he joined the United Football League and was named the head coach of the Omaha Nighthawks.
