Adolescent Development and Rapid Social Change : Perspectives from Eastern Europe

Three psychologists and a law scholar highlight adolescents in Hungary and Poland that they say were the last children of the old system and will be the first adults of the new. They examine the relationship between the development of individuals and the changing historical time and national context in which that development occurs. Through interviews in Pes, Budapest, and Gdansk, they explore adolescent views of their changing society, and the effects of the change on themselves, their families, their cities, and their nation.
