Wordplay for melanin, The Adventures of Mel & An tells the story of 8 year old, Meldrick Thompson, and his sister, 6 year old, Anaya Thompson. Affectionally nicknamed, Mel & An, readers embark on a journey as these siblings adjust to a new school after moving away from their hometown of Jackson, MS.

Will Mel & An make friends as easily as they did back home? Will the pizza taste the same as their old school cafeteria? Will they have to do more homework?
