Age of the Offered Hand

In is the public record of measured words that remains the most reliable barometer of either consistency or change in one's purpose, especially in politics and public life. This is the third volume in the Queen's University Centre for the Study of Democracy's Library of Political Leadership, an occasional series of collections of public addresses of Canadian prime ministers, premiers, opposition leaders and significant foreign leaders in the Canadian context. As 2008 was the 20th anniversary of the great free trade debate in Canada which saw the return to majority power of Prime Minister Mulroney, and the election of George H.W. Bush as President in the US leading to the NAFTA, it is a particularly fitting time for Age of the Offered Hand to be published. Book jacket.

He lives in Houston, Texas where he is co-founder of Begala-McGrath LLC. McGrath Heartbeat: George Bush In His Own Work, was published in 2001. Arthur Milnes is a Fellow of the Queen's University Centre for the Study of Democracy. He served as research assistant to the Right Honourable Brain Mulroney on the latter's Memoirs.
