Donald E. Gelfand, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at Wayne State University and Chair of the department (1994-1999). In 1990, he was a Visiting Research Fellow at Australian National University, and he was a Senior Fulbright Fellow in Darmstadt, Germany, in 1982. He has also served as Associate Director of the National Policy Center on Older Women and as a Senior Research Associate at the National Council on the Aging.
