Agustí n de Betancourt was a military man, engineer and great enlightened master of engineers and architects, born in Tenerife in 1758. Throughout a dazzling career that would lead him to be a protagonist of history in three different countries, he contributed to improving the lives of his fellow citizens with countless technological innovations in the field of public works. Even today, almost 300 years later, the figure of this universal Canary Islander is still remembered around the world.

Julio Fajardo studied Hispanic Philology in Salamanca and has been working as an editor and translator for fifteen years. He has published the novels Los principios activos (451 Editores, 2008) and Asamblea ordinaria (Libros del Asteroide, 2016).
