With the anthropological concepts which it received, developed and formulated in its historical, regional and 'expert' manifestations, Pietism made an important contribution to the 'anthropological turn' in the 18th century. The discussions documented here give a more precise definition of the position of Pietism in the totality of 18th century cultural trends, provide insights into the history of the reception of Pietism and its effects and contribute to the definition of a concept of Pietism which is valid and useful in an interdisciplinary context.
